PREFACE

    The six-year-old “Humen Cup” International Youth Design Contest (Women’s Wear), one of the most influential fashion design competitions at home, has been proved by all circles for its international character, fashionable character and authority. With so many contestants getting involved, the contest has become a large stage for young designers to demonstrate their talent, to elaborate the romantic charm of fashion and make their dreams come true.
    To further develop exchanges of international dress cultures and increase the design level of women’s wear, China•Guangdong Garment & Garment Article Industry Association, Guangdong Fashion Designers Association and People’s Government of Humen Town will hold the 7th “Humen Cup” International Youth Design Contest (Women’s Wear). The theme of this year is “The Light Of Harmony”, stating the young designers’ complex of pursuing the harmony of fashion, showing their passion and releasing inspiration to dramatically highlight the harmonious society construction. Now we cordially invite worldwide contributions, welcoming the anticipation of young designers from all over the world.

II．QUALIFICATION
    Anyone engaged in fashion design and under 35 is qualified to participate.

III. PARTICIPATION AND DEADLINE
1.Participants can search from the websites www.gdfd.org.cn，www.fumin.com or www.humen.com for detailed information from March 25, 2006.
2. Application form is available on www.gdfd.org.cn， www.fumin.com orwww.humen.com. It must be completed and sent to the Organizing Committee by June 30, 2006.
3. Participants’ fashion drawings must be sent to the Organizing Committee by July 30, 2006(limited by postdate)

IV. DEMANDS ON WORKS
1. Subject: The Light of Harmony
2. Range: Women’s wear (available fabric/materials are not limited)
3. Participants’ design is based on different series. Each series includes 5 suits drawn on one fashion drawing (27cm×40cm). On the opposite side: subject, design thought (less than 50 words) are written on the left top; front and back pattern drawing on the left bottom; name, sex, date of birth, nationality, school of graduation, education, working company, address of working company, post code, E-mail, telephone number and fax on the right top (all must be filled in your native language and English); one copy of ID card and photo (as used for passport) of the participants (packaged with an envelope and well sealed) should be attached; sample of the fabric/material(8cm×8cm) on the right bottom. The participating fashion drawings are not returnable.
4. The contribution must be the works never published. Such works contributed more than once are regarded as invalid manuscripts.

V. SELECTION
1. The competition will carry through preliminary and final.
2. The judges will evaluate the works based on the rules after the deadline; 30 works will be selected for the final. The Organizing Committee will publish the name list of finalists on www.gdfd.org.cn,  www.fumin.comor www.humen.com after Sep. 1st and notify them with written form to make preparation for the final.

VI. DATE/PLACE OF FINAL AND MATTERS CONCERNED
1. Date/time: Final is settled at 19:30 pm, Nov.11, 2006 (Peking Time) during the 10th China (Humen) International Fashion Fair.
2. Place: Huanghe Fashion City of Humen, Dongguan, Guangdong, China
3. Finalists should arrive at the final place with design exhibits (practicality) on Nov.8, 2006 (Peking Time).
4. The exhibits (practicality) awarded the gold, silver and bronze prizes will be kept by the Organizting Committee.

VII．ENCOURAGEMENT
1. The winners will be awarded bonus, cup and certificate.
One gold prize: 30,000RMB, cup and certificate
Two silver prizes: 25,000RMB, cup and certificate
Three bronze prizes: 1,5000RMB, cup and certificate
Ten consolation prizes: 5,000RMB, certificate
Finalist prizes: certificate
2. The prized works will be published in the professional journals. The final will be broadcasted on relevant television stations.
3. (a) Finalists’ traveling expenses are covered by the Organizing Committee with standards as below: 10,000RMB for European and American finalists; 5,000RMB for Asian finalists; 3,000RMB for Chinese finalists.
(b) The Organizing Committee offers free accommodation during November 8—13 for the finalists.
(c) The Organizing Committee arranges a meeting between finalists and garment enterprises.
